What is sheet-metal formability?

"A predictive CAE Tool that simulates the stamping process including the geometry of tools, material properties, lubrication, stage models, press parameters & knowledge database of the experienced tool designers thereby making it effortlessly possible to arrive at a good stamping in shortest possible time."

Rasandik uses high end analysis tools for formability study of sheet metal pressed parts. The exact die, material and press conditions are simulated to study the behavior of component in the press. This gives the designer an insight into the manufacturing process at the design stage itself, giving the designer an opportunity to optimize the design.

RASANDIK has been one of the first users of high-end solutions like Hyper Form + LSDyna to do sheet metal formability simulation. With a large database of stampings analyzed for several customers, we have a major advantage of thorough domain knowledge of the deep drawing process, combined with a state-of-the art software tool to arrive at the optimum tool design and process parameters.

There are many side benefits to using such a tool, like the stress prediction after forming can become an input to the vehicle crash analysis tool, thus improving the prediction of this analysis, and in turn improving the safety of the customer.
